Comic book for the blind

22:00

Although the visually impaired have been able to read everything from epic tomes to business cards using the Braille system, a visual medium like a comic book seriously suffers in translation. At least until now: German design student Philipp Meyer has created a comic book with a visual story that's so simple, yet so poignant, that it can be understood and appreciated by both the sighted and the blind. Called "Life," the wordless story takes the most basic elements of two individuals meeting, falling in love, having a child and passing away. With its basic textures and arrangement, Meyer hopes that "Life" can be the first step toward more complex visual stories for the blind.
